Subscription data
The home network maintains subscription information describing which services and slices a subscriber may use. The SIM or eSIM supports identity and authentication, while the operator's subscriber systems hold the wider entitlement and policy context.
Configured and subscribed slices
Devices may receive configured slice information, while the subscription identifies authorised S-NSSAIs. The serving network then determines what is allowed in the current registration area.
eSIM does not create slicing
eSIM can make profile provisioning and service changes more flexible, but it does not automatically add slice support. The profile, device, serving network and commercial service must still support it.
