Four different claims
A feature can be standardised, implemented by a vendor, trialled by an operator or sold as a repeatable commercial service. Those are four different levels of maturity.
Questions to ask
Is 5G SA available at the required locations? Which devices and firmware are approved? Is roaming supported? What S-NSSAIs or service profiles are exposed? How is the service ordered, monitored and supported? What does the SLA measure?
The honest conclusion
Network slicing is real network architecture, not fiction. But access remains dependent on operator deployment and product strategy. For many customers today, private APNs, QoS, SD-WAN, private 5G or edge networking may still be more readily available.
